2015 Lecture Series!

2015 LECTURE SERIES TO FOCUS ON HUMAN IMPACTS AND RESPONSE TO ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE

Lecture topics include ocean health and resilience, the effects of climate change on our food and water supplies, and plans for protecting coastal communities from sea level rise
How safe is the water we drink and seafood we eat? What are the socioeconomic impacts of climate change? How accurate are climate projections? And how can these topics be effectively communicated with broad audiences? These are few of the issues you’ll learn about at Metcalf Institute’s 2015 Annual Public Lecture Series, Scientists and Journalists: Getting the Point Across  June 8 through June 12, at the URI Graduate School of Oceanography
The weeklong series will bring leaders in science, policy and journalism to the Narragansett Bay Campus to explore the latest research on global environmental change and how communities are responding, as well as the new tools journalists are using to report on these environmental changes.
The lectures are free and open to the public and will be held at the Coastal Institute Auditorium on the URI Graduate School of Oceanography’s Narragansett Bay Campus, 218 South Ferry Road in Narragansett. Friday’s lecture will be held across the street in Corless Auditorium.
