EPA tours RI coastal areas at risk from climate change
Rhode Island’s tools for taming impacts of climate change may help New England: Rhode Island’s efforts to improve its coastal management policies and planning tools to better answer the problems caused by flooding and erosion — key impacts of storms and sea level rise associated with climate change — may be of use to other New England states. The University of Rhode Island (URI) Coastal Resources Center and Rhode Island Sea Grant, representing the URI Graduate School of Oceanography, took regional officials of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on a tour to show how the work is moving forward in local communities such as Westerly and Warwick.
